Default Cost vs Profits

As mentioned earlier, Audi has to crash test ever model it sells in the US, usually multiple cars for each model. If they can't sell enough cars to offset the costs of crash testing, why bother. The S4/S6 (mid 90's) was discontinued from US markets due to lack of sales vs. continually meeting US crash standards. Making the customer happy at a loss is not the goal.

Default Re: I'm confused by your response - long (response long also)

Guys, it isn't just Audi! I've been waiting for a Passat GLX for entirely too long. There is constantly something going on so that they can't ship these cars to the US. There are quality problems with the shipment of leather from the leather manufacturer, there was a crash-test problem with the gas tank on the Syncro models, engineering is having a hard time making the syncro work, etc. ALL LIES! I know you guys know that the Passat is basically an Audi A5. (Half way between an A4 and an A6). Something like 70% of the Audis shipped to the US are quattro, which is the same as syncro, so the gas tank lie fails, nect I have E-Mailed a VW dealer in Europe who says he has seen a bunch of Syncro Passats come through his dealership. Another lie exposed. And no one seems to know a date when they will be produced. (Even though the latest date seems to have finally stuck, almost everyone is quoting it now).<p>I really DO feel your pain. I'm there too, only different car. Who else does this? What other car company makes customers wait for vehicles when they have deposits down at the dealer, and they won't even give you a date! I sometime wonder why I continue to wait. But I always do..
