Default Tunable 12v!!

Did anybody else see the story about the Beetle in Motor Trend?? Here's the tuner....

These guys took a Beetle dropped in a (VR6) V6 24v (Euro) engine and installed a quattro system out of a TT. Then they strapped a couple (two) KKK turbochargers to it and started kicking out 500 HP. They said that this could be done with either the Euro 24v or the US 12v engine. All the parts used (at least on the engine/drivetrain) are OEM VW/Audi parts. We just need to get a parts list from them!!

So what's the difference between the VR6 and the Audi engine anyway?? Is there that much difference or could it be done with the Audi engine??

The VR6 is a more compact version of the same engine, is it not?

Default It's an entirely different design. They just happened upon the seen at the same time and happened..

to have the same HP ratings. I think the VR6 is a pretty slick piece. Almost as slick as the Audi 5-cyl.

Default The VR6....

is a narrow-angle(15 degree) V6 with a single cylinderhead common to both cylinder banks, so it's almost as compact as an I-5, perfect for FWD format, but can be(and has been quite a few times) adapted to AWD. That Bug and it's GTI counterpart aren't the first VR6 Quattro cars that HPA has made, they've also done a couple of A3 platform Cabrios. And there are a couple of Rallye Golfs in Europe with VR6 conversions.

Default Even Audi's is Tunable 12v.

Grab the head gaskets for the turbo 5v and non-turbo. Get any ideas? This is a heck of a lot easier to change the heads or the heads and turbo than starting from scratch.

Go stock mild on the boost, since the block is known to split (ask the "supercharger" folks.).
