warning light
i have a 5000s... my brake warning light comes on even though the brakes are fine (checked them myself, had the dealer check). could it be a maintenance prompt like BMWs have, and i have to have an electronic reset tool to fix?

Check brake fluid level...
if it's low it will trigger the warning sensor...
there is no reset that I have ever heard of, so I dont think it's that...
the only real "maintenence" promp for the brakes would be for the front pads getting thin, but has its own warning light...
It could be a faulty warning switch...

There are two brake warning lights. One is the orange one which stays on and is an indicator that your pads are worn. You can shut off this light by bypassing some wiring, or reconnecting it if the guys at the shop didn't.
The second warning light blinks red and beeps when you first start the car. This could mean many things - low hydraulic fluid, low brake fluid or low hydraulic fuel pressure. It could be a problem with your brake bomb - an expensive thing to replace. It could even be bad hydraulic fluid lines or a bad power steering pump since an imbalance in pressure within the hydraulic lines sets the beeper off too. Make sure your fluids are topped up, both brake fluid (DOT 4 only) and hydraulic fluid (German fluid only, eg. Pentosin 7.1 or 11S). Hope this helps.

those were the first things i checked
it's not fluid level, and the brakes are still tight... it is the red blinking one. the steering is still as tight as ever and the brakes work fine and with very little give.
this light couldn't be more irritating. i've rebuilt the calipers and bled the brakes... hydro pressure is fine, brake fluid is full.
do the brakes have a temp warning? could that be doing it?
the brakes do tend to get really hot.
