Warning light
were/could be causing my light to come on:
1. low fluid or faulty sensor in the brake fluid res (mine was snapped in half).
2. do you have the brake pad wear warning light? If so check the wires that lead into the pads themselves. Just last week I found mine to have a cut and when I'd hit a pothole the wire would short out and the light would go on.
So far the light has stayed off....

If an open bulb sets off the sensor, current isn't flowing. A low wattage bulb will draw less current.
Sounds like it might be a corroded socket too. A little WD-40 and some "bulb twisting" action might solve the problem. Probably be a pretty ugly socket. Bad wire connection somewhere?
You know (guess?) how far out of spec the bulb has to be?
I'm sure Audi didn't use this set-up (no need to make the system that exact) but I would think that an incorrect wattage "may" cause something similar. Don't know for sure....just giving rudy another place to check!!?
I also agree with one of your statements in your last post...it would be wise to check for corrosion in the sockets!!
HTH!!
