Would you recommend an Audi 90 as a used car to friends?
Can someone give me an education on know problems/regular maintence requirements for an 90/91 Audi 90. A friend is looking to buy a car in the next few weeks and has Audi on the list. Would appreciate any help you could give in terms of life of car, motor, regular service intervals (swap belts at ___miles) etc.

They are very solid cars.
Most problems related to these cars are with the wiring. If you it doesn't have wiring problems the car will run forever(at least it seems like it). The auto tranny's also need a close look and careful maintence.
Blower motors seem to go around 150K miles fuel pump is usually good for 200K+. Change oil, filters and plugs and they will most likely run a long time. I beileve T-belts are supposed to be changed at 90k(I think), but do to dumb PO's on my cars I've got 200k and 150k out of the original belts(before I changed them).
Some people have also had problems with steering racks and brake boosters....but so far I haven't!! My fingers are crossed just in case!

My wife has one with 150,000 and very little has gone wrong. Catalytic Converter and dash board lights. Just had the A/c serviced after 10 years.Compressor still fine unlike other Audi models I have had. Original radiator and clutch. Manual Transmission a little hard to get in reverse now. Power window on passenger side failed.Otherwise amazing car. 10 times more reliable than my 87 5000 or my 98 A6.
