Default 1.8t Challenge Dyno plot

Just got this from Jay at primedia... go stock k03!

Dyno runs were done at GIAC's facilities here in socal in August.

<img src="http://paul.socaleuro.com/audi/gallery/dynos_plots/dyno_18t.gif">

doesn't look anything like AMS's Maha Dyno... big difference in drag/braking by the dyno. Huge difference when torque comes into play, so not sure what's causing that.

Default Dyno readings will always be different

since every dyno setup will have a different load ramping setup. I noticed this since I have put my car on 2 dynojets, 1 dynopak and on the GIAC dyno plenty of times. I ended up getting the same hp readings on the giac mustang and the Harman Motive dynojet but the tq readings were much different.

the harmon dynojet and GIAC's mustang...

Default I note the drop after 4800 RPM. Chip + injectors = only cure.

But excellent comparison on runs from two very different dynos for the same car.

Default Well lets see

GIAC dyno tuned my car at 385 whp @ 22 psi with the Innovative turbo(60-1), then I dyno'd for the 1.8t challenge with the GT35R at 378 whp at 20psi on a hot run and then dyno tested at harmon motive at 385 whp at 20psi on a cold run. Only difference I saw between the 2 shops with the GT35r turbo was the jump in tq which was 278 on the mustang and 328 on the dyno jet.

Default i want to see a dyno chart independently done for both giac and apr. :)

until then i won't believe the claims lol. and i want the same car to run the non-injector tuning too, street program pump gas, nothing above 93.

Default oh i knew the load was way different but i never figured that it would account for that much

difference in when the torque band came in. It's why i wanted to see what GIAC's dyno measured vs AMS. Gives me an idea of the different dyno setups.

Default Don't *most* dynos measure torque and then calculate the HP from that data?

If so, how does one get from those disparate torque readings to approximately the same HP numbers?

Default

Load isn't coming in at the same rate on both dynos. The braking done is different.

Default Yeah I surmised that. My Q was the 'factoring' that must be done to convert such disimilar torque to

such similar HP readings.
