Default 2009 A3 2.0T Turbo to Downpipe Question!

Hello All,

New user - first post.

Just bought an '09 Audi A3 Quattro 2.0T. Has an APR Stage 1 chip on it, and came with Carbonio Intake and APR downpipe.

I'm having the downpipe installed today and I get a call from the shop saying that one of the bolts (top front) between Turbo and DP is snapped off.

They tried to remove it but could not. Said I'd have to remove the turbo and drill it out, or ride with only 3 of 4 bolts attached.

What should I do??

That seems awfully expensive - but I don't want a leak between the Turbo and DP obviously. Anybody else deal with this?

Thanks!

Best bet is to drill it. If you run only 3 bolts its gonna leak, it may seal itself once it heats up but it will leak on cold starts. Broken exhaust studs are a common problem.

Thanks. They said that it was actually a half-stud, and that it was not completely gone so they were able to get nut on it. It's attached with 3.5 studs I like to think now.

Appreciate the response! Maybe take it to another shop to see if they can extract and replace.
