Default Advice... Info... etc...

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so I'm hoping some of you experts can help me out. I'm recieving my 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro in about 6 weeks. I'm starting to think about making some modifications to it. Maybe enough to get an extra 15-30 horses. What do I need to know? Where can I go to get info? Are there any chips that have been made that will work on the 2002 A4? Also, what sorta modifications can I make without voiding the warranty? Will installing a chip void the warranty?

As you can see, I have lots of questions. I appreciate all the answers you can give me... or if you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Ralph

Default Here are some answers:

What do I need to know? You have to chip to make any power

Where can I go to get info? Links - parts: then check out apr, mtm, giac, awe for chips and exhausts

Are there any chips that have been made that will work on the 2002 A4? look at the links above for info

Also, what sorta modifications can I make without voiding the warranty? Fuzzy Dice Mod - Actually nothing that will give you 30HP ) If you get an extra ecu, you could get away with warranty isues (hopefully) Talk to some tuners and do a search for others experiences. I never had problems with warranty work, but never needed expensive parts...

Will installing a chip void the warranty? maybe

Default Some answers..

First of all, congrats on your purchase!

Now to the goodies, in order for you to tune the 1.8t, what majority of the 'basic' mods that the forum members do is chipping it and installing a free flow exhaust, that itself is usually between 30-50hp/trq gain. I'm no expert in this, I'm sure the A4 group will be able to provide further information.

I'm pretty sure reputational tuners like GIAC/APR/ABT/MTM...etc will be making chips for the new A4's, when will they be released? this I'm not too sure. Will 'chipping' your car void the warranty? Yes if the dealer can prove the chip was the reason for the failure. Thats why its a wise investment to purchase a spare ECU for peace of mind. It's really up to you and how your dealer takes modifications of aftermarket products. Hope this helps!

Default TALK TO YOUR DEALER

I have been told that Audi intends to start marketing performance enhancing mods such as chips, exhausts, turbos and body kits etc.
My dealer told me we should be seeing these options being rolled out in the new year, so I imagine you guys in the US and Europe would get them sooner. heard they will mod up to 172Kw.
Worth asking as you will have no probs with warranty if this is the case.
