And while torque produced by most of the popular chips is over the over the max torque rating of both the automatic and Tiptronic, I haven't seen any reports of broken Tiptronics yet. And there are a lot of Tip owners here with chips (even a few with bigger turbos). If you have one of the pre '98 models w/out the Tip, you may want to think twice or get a low-power chip, because one of the tuners (AMS) did find that the torque converter in the older non-Tip automatics cannot handle too much of a power increase.
Assuming IMO = Immobilizer, I know that APR has a workaround for immobilizer issues, not sure about others. I would suggest calling them and asking about this before you purchase.

aLTREADY GOT THE CHIP A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND NOW MY TRANNY is shot, I am told I need 12, g's for a new one. HAHA YEH RIGHT, LIKE i HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A TRANNY
