Chip upgrade!

Chip upgrade!
I am ready to send my 97 A4 1.8T computer to be
upgraded to a performance chip. I am new here
and can someone tell me who has the best chip..
on the market...Tap?..APR?. I cannot search the archive and I am getting a "Dig error"
Can you also tell me the performance and the downside of it. Chip is the only modification in my car..nothing else.
Thanks

Re: Chip upgrade!
The two favs are APR and GIAC. I'd choose between them if you are looking for the largest power increase. Some people go with other companies because they run lower boost and it doesn't stress the turbo as much. Just depends on what your looking for and how much you want to spend. But like I said, APR and GIAC seem to be the most popular. I wouldn't know the difference cause I am not chipped, but I've heard people call the APR a smoother power and the GIAC a more raw power. Good luck!

Re: Chip upgrade!
There are plenty to choose from.
APR
TAP
MTM
GIAC
Wetteraurer
Neuspeed
Autothority
None of the them are turkeys. The most common ones seem to be APR and GIAC.
If you want a lower boost chip, the last 3 on the list offer a 0.8 bar chip.
GIAC has the mose low end torque. APR offers extensive on-going development and have a strong customer focus.
Wett has good customer service also.
TAP is not very well known for good service.
MTM is the most expensive, but has the closest "relationship" with Audi.
Neuspeed is the low price leader.
I have had a Wett chip for 45K miles and have been very happy with it.

I'm happy to be in the MTM minority but...
would try GIAC/PES based on my Tip-Chip experience with them.
I really haven't read anything positive about TAP in my time here.
APR has many fans.
