Darkside?...
Sadly my test drive of the '04 M3 coupe had to be moved to this Saturday because of scheduling issues. I am really excited and am counting down the days. If all goes well I may have to get rid of the third car ('98 navigator). From your experience or knowledge, what is the butt dyno comparison between a chipped/exhaust/fmic A4 and the '04 M3 6-speed? How about between a stage 3 A4 and the M3? Just wondering because if there is not much difference between the stage 3 and the M3, I might just do that instead. I am asking because people say that the S4 doesn't "feel" as fast as it is. I am worried the M3 might fall into the same category, and if I pay $60k for a car I want it to "feel" damn fast. Anyone who has driven one or hitched a ride in a E46 M3, please comment on your experience.

Well i raced one repeatedly with my old T28 car and walked away from it...
i was expecting to get my *** handed to me, but i was shocked, and we ran over and over till he finally gave up and gave me a thumbs up.
Don't get me wrong, it was just a walk, but we were on the highway where he would have the biggest advantage over a AWD car...we ran up to about 100mph (where i usually get off the throttle considering it is a public highway).
I was on my stock smic and oem cat at the time, to boot, IIRC.
M3s are nice, but like you said, if i spent that kind of $$ i would want something faster than most less expensive car with a few thousand of mods in it.
You might want to consider a 350Z or G35c and then wait for a good turbo setup...

I personally think most of you are delusional :P One of my friends has an
'02 M3 coupe 6 speed and he pulled me on the hwy the same night I ran my best time and trap at the track (had 100 in the tank). I have also driven it and it has awesome power throughout the whole rev range and is definitely stronger up top. If you beat a new M3 on pump gas, the guy either couldn't find the gas pedal or something ;D
