downsides to chipping
I'm buying an A3 and considering getting the ECU upgraded (ie, hacked.) What, if any, are the concerns in doing this?
- Can it make the electronic stability control any less effective? Aren't there many safety systems in the car that expect the engine to behave within certain parameters?
- Does it void the warranty?
- Will the dealer reprogram the ECU when I take it in for service? (if I don't want them to)

are we talking the new 2.0T?
I (and i assume most other people on here) dont know much about the new 2.0T because its so new. with the 1.8T there hasnt seemed to be many if any downsides to chipping, basicaly its the way the engine should be.
What company are you looking at? I dont know of many tuners making anything for the 2.0T yet, I think MTM does and I know Dahlback does (makes it 244hp and 265 ft/lbs)
I am pretty sure it will void your warranty.
Somone also said that the 2.0T block dosent like more than 300 hp so i wouldnt realy plan on ever going big turbo on it.

Warranty that's it.
But only warranty on the engine and turbo, can be attributed to the change. It will not void your entire warranty.
Besides the companies that Justin listed, APR also makes a chip for the 2.0T, which allows you to easily put it back into stock mode so when you go to the dealer they wont realize the car is chipped.

you seem to be "close" with APR know if they ahve any plans for....
stage 3 on the 2.0T?
that would probably make for a potent little bugger, if the internals and block can handle it, wich from another post i read, i guess it dosent like much more than 300 hp?
if so that realy sucks, get the displacement, and potential, but without the strength.
Oh and I like the "is that a race car?" quote im assuming the R32? its right under the link.
