EGT Probe Mounting Locations....Problem
Ok, so I need to mount this probe to check for Air/Fuel, and make sure I don't run too lean on the new programming. I want to install before I change programming, so I have a baseline. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to figure out where to mount it on this setup. I have heard two major viewpoints:
A) Run in the manifold, more accurate
B) Run past turbo, so it doesn't F things up if it breaks off.
How often does it break off anyways? This particular one is designed for aircraft, but I don't know if that is good or bad.
So, anyone have any thoughts? I know Xr4tic mounted his in the slot for EWG, but I have EWG, so that won't work. I think the probe is a little too long to mount in the tube that goes over to the EWG. I can't see going into the manifold, becuase it has a worm-type clamp on it. The only option I see right now is going behind turbo. And if I do that, should I go pre- or post-wastegate?

Either way is fine, the temps are not going to drop all that much
by the time it gets past the turbo. You might also want to look at putting in a wide band kit which you can get for $400 from www.tuneyourengine.com

Damn!
$59 for a Bosch 5 wire wideband o2 from that website. This can be used with our cars, right? Then we just tap a gauge from there, no? It's not exactly necessary for that whole digital meter and kit, correct?

Its not that simple since the 5 wire works much different.
The nice part about the unit is that you get to add other features and it has a very fast sample rate. It also allows you to record the readings, then down load it to your computer and read it out in a graph.

So, get a narrow band 4 wire, or a "generic" 3 wire narrow band. Your car is setup to use a
N.B. 3-wire, converting to a 4-wire isn't a big deal, as the 4th is an extra ground (supposed to help reduce noise or something, get a better reading, so mileage should increase slightly, so they say).
