Default engine management for 5 cyl?

I'm looking for a computer that will allow to adjust fuel and timing distributorless. Do you know a cie or an example?

Default I have fitted Motec M800 to my 90 I5 10V.

M800 is a professional race system.
If I was fitting a system and paying for it myself, I would use Haltech.

Thats a helluva nice ECU you have, way rich for my blood thats for sure! The Motecs are great, just out of most peoples league...

I always forget about Haltech, not sure why, its not like the product is bad (it isn't).

Default Why do you want to run distributorless?

Motec M4-8 and nup certainly will. Maybe Haltech will as well.

Default more reliability....

High output, more precise, less moving parts, no more cap rotor changes.

Default The reason I asked the question was because I asked the same question of myself....

I can individually trim ignition timing and fuel mixture for each cylinder with a distributor if I use a ref and synch sensors fitted inside the distributor. The worst case timing scatter is less than 2 degrees on my installation and for correction see above but I am unlikely to detect a power loss even for 2 degrees on one cylinder anyway.
The big reason that I kept the distributor is that I can use standard replacement parts and the installation looks much neater than having to find a place for 5 ignition coils with associated wiring etc. Also the additional cost was not justified for the minimal likely gains.
As for restricting power, I work on race engines, many of which still use distributors, and I know the cylinder pressures I will generate in a N/A I5 will never appproach the limits of a well setup distributor system. BTW it is usually accepted that a distributor system with 1 coil is good for 8000 RPM on a 6 cylinder application. (Yes I did mean 6)
I think that reliability is also not an issue as the OE system has proven to be reliable for typically hundreds of thousands of kilometers in each application.
Please don't take offence, I am just trying to help you make a fully informed decision and my findings may not directly apply to you.

A friend gave me a link to a 10vt (WR code from a urq) running the Motronic system from an AAN/ABY engine.

Just some food for thought.

it was on this page...

http://www.quattronut.org</a
