Engine RPM

Engine RPM
I'm new to the Audi motors and need some help to settle a bet. I hope some one on this fourm can help. My girl friend drives a TT roadster (stock) I think it's the 180 hp (it has single exhaust) She never runs the motor over 4000 RPM she said the dealer told her not to "wind out the motor" It's been my experince with high performance motors that there desinged to to run closer to the red line and it's worse to lug them than red line them. Any way the bet is that the dealer is wrong and that motor can safely be driven from 4000 to 6000 RPM's.
Thanks

Re: Engine RPM
'Winding out the motor' to me would be hitting the rev limiter. Not good. Look at the performance figures for the car. What revs for the maximum Hp and what revs for the Torque. You can short shift, but not so much that the engine labors.
Either way you will lose the bet. You are dealing with the Female mind. Your place is in the wrong....Her money is her money.....your money is her money.....and the rules keep changing!

Re: Engine RPM
Thanks for the info. Are the performance fig. posted on-line? I build motors for sport bikes the motors I deal with are dynoed and tweaked via chip mapping fuel injection ect. and we post dyno results befor- after, and that sort of thing. Do you guys post like that? I'd like to see the diff. stock vs. mods.
thanks again

For best fuel efficency with the car you should drive between for the TT probably 1500 grand and
4000 grand going over that limit is burning the cluth only go over it or all but redline it to pick up max speeds and such dont blow up the engin by going to redline every sing shift

Dyno results
Try a search. Every now and then someone will mention a Dyno reading but more people should. It would certainly clear some misconceptions that installing a chip will turn your car into a dragster. I have posted in the past asking for actual Dyno numbers to back up some of the claims thrown around on the Forums, yet to see one.
