Default Flywheel question.....

For an a4 1.8tq, I was wondering what a lightened flywheel would do to the car. I understand that the engine will spool up much faster, but how much? I've been told that it can actually be too much.

Default A lot of people with quattro's have reported idle problems with the

real light flywheels. Yes it will let the car rev up faster but it also goes the other way by letting the motor drop revs faster between shifts.

Default I have the APR flywheel on mine and love it....

No idle problems. Sometimes, when the A/C is turned on, there will be a slight chatter, but it's not audible inside the car.

The motor definately revs quicker, and between shifts, the rev drops are almost perfect, no more hanging revs.

If you do a lot of drag racing, you may not like it, it's harder to launch since you don't have the momentum the heavy flywheel gives you.

It's great for Auto-X and track events, and for aggressive street driving.

hike the idle a bit so the extra gas would slow the drop.

Default I'm one of those folks....

Combined with my APR Stage 3 kit, I have stalling issues when running the A/C. I tried cleaning the throttle body and running a few cans of expensive BG44 fuel cleaner, but the idle problems still exists. Real bummer when your car stalls at every stoplight. =(

I've been waiting for a year or so for fix from the APR folks.

Default Unfortunately, no. I had it on the car before I started the conversion.

I figure it will be done in two weeks (crossing fingers)
