Default FMIC Pros and Cons

I've seen a few people post with FMICs - I always thought that for road racing they were a bad idea because they:

block air from the radiator, causing overheating
are exposed to too much debris, getting damaged easily

anybody here have experience or thoughts on FMICs, pros or cons?

Default Can't think of a single Con . . . other than cost . . .

I have already installed an FMIC in a friends 225TT Roadster. He has lots of other mods done to this car. Before the FMIC was installed his car would pull strong to just under 6,000, now with the FMIC it not only pulls to redline, but it pulls each gear as strong as the next to redline.

1st gear is even shorter than before. He will be doing some runs at Englishtown very soon.

This car has the following already on it:

Garrett Chip
Forge Exhaust
Forge DV
Bilstein PSS9 Coil-overs
Forge FMIC
Stop-tech brakes

I will be installing the Samco upper hoses this week as well. More things to come as well . . . APR Stage III+ possibly . . .

I will be doing some custom work on my 180TTQ very soon as well . . .

if the FMIC is not designed properly you can have pressure drop.

Default Each core is typically sized for a 1.5psi pressure drop across it. Don't know at what flow rate...

though. It could be at max flow rate.

Default Sensor problems

I thought there is an issue with a sensor location on the 2000 A4's when putting on a FMIC.

Default No problems -- I have the Abt one that works in line with the OEM...

IC. You can see the one I have by going to europeanspeed.com

Car still pulls during long road trips, and I would like to think it's a good thing for the engine to get a cooler charge during summer the months.

Oh wait, I have noticed that there is just a slight bit of lag during a standing start, but once it kicks in...!!!! :-))))

Default The sensor problem would only be with a K03 since it cant keep up with what the ecu demands for.

But I have a few chips from GIAC that I use that will get me up to 6K at the drags.
