Good technical question....
I installed a set of boxster brakes into my A4 using EVO MS' aluminum carrier brackets. However, the bolts that came with the kit - the ones that bolts the carrier to the hub - are too long (by about 2 or 3mm). So, I am forced to put a couple of aluminum washers to keep the bolts from bottoming out onto the rotors.
So, here is the question - Can I cut the bolts (steel) down about 2 or 3mm, without compromising the integrity of the bolt... and the bolt's ability to stay on the hub? I believe I can... but want to check with the people here first.
Thanks,
Cris

One caveat ....
The grip of the bolt is the unthreaded portion between the head and the threads. You don't want to cut off 2-3mm of thread and find that the grip of the bolt is now into the threaded portion of the hub. [Needless to say, it won't screw in.] Other than that, no problem.
