Default HELP - Question about an Audi transaxle???

I'm looking for a strong longitud mounted 2wd transaxle - Can anybody tell me what 2 wheel drive Audi transaxle is the strongest? I'm looking for a standard shift - Transaxle model? What cars it came in? What years?

For example, I was told that the Audi 5000 turbo 5speed trans is a strong, reliable transaxle....are any of the new ones better?

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Please send any responses to nepamktg@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance - Joel

Sorry about the typo - should read "longitudial" not "longitud"

Default You gonna stuff that in the Nissan ???

It won't pass tech. What are you up to ? GT project ? Ice racer ? Race car for Nicole ? I'll email you Kurt Thiel's phone # - you might not recognize the name, but you'd recognize the car.s He's one of our NYSRRC buddies who builds pro rally cars and ice races.

Are we borrowing your wheels for the 24 Hour @ Moroso ?

Default Yep, your info is correct...

"Audifans" has a list of transaxles and their relative strength. The 5-sp turbo is the cheapest of the strong ones (virtually free). The axle diameter is MUCH larger than the 4k's. Ask this question over at audifans, because I have never seen a US spec turbo 5 FWD.

I guess you could get a lockup center diff and use an AWD box.

Where did you see that at Audifans? I looked around but couldn't find it.
