ITG Filter Question

I couldn't find anything in the archives. I got my 00 1.8T chipped in 4/00 (during the AWE group buy) and also had an ITG filter installed. My car needs 30k mile service and I was wondering if I should the air filter. Should I buy a new ITG filter or have it cleaned somehow? When I looked at the filter recently it had gray/black tar on it.

most are cleanable with a 'secret sauce' hit ITGs website or call AWE.
