Default ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!

Well, I'm the first to have done this (to the best of my knowledge and that of others) to have built a 2.0T 20v here in Canada. My setup is very similar to that of xr4tic, except that due to a low budget I had to do with a stock K03 turbo.

It runs actually quite nicely even though I don't have the MAF / none of the O2 sensors / N75 connected and I'm running on a Honda Prelude belt (looks quite out of place).
Now I need to get my exhaust custom built to fit my GTI and get my FMIC connected.

What a good day.

Default Should run fine on 10psi.

I actually did the same thing but with a K04. I was able to pull more out of the K04 at 15psi then a 1.8t does at 27+psi.

Only bad thing is the boost comes on so fast (2K rpms) that all the power is down low.

Default I am glad that it is.

Did that little idea for the timing belt work that I gave you? or did you just have to ask xr4tic?

I used xr4tic's idea since no one here seems to know anything. The 155T belt is a PITA to install but it fits, and as John (xr4tic) says, even without the tensioner installed the belt stays tight.

Not the best solution, but it'll do for now.

yeah, thats what I'm expecting. For a baby K03, I'm probably looking at full boost at idle.

Kinda sux, but I'll have to deal with it until I can afford a bigger turbo (K04 or GT25).

Are you using an ABA block or are you stroking the 1.8 to get the 2.0 displacement?

BTW, what power do you put down and at what RPM?

Default Congratulations! =)

Good job,... but there's a T-28, 2.0L A4 in Vancouver with a built up bottom end - rods, valves, pistons, etc. SDS stand alone ems.

Sorry for spoiling the moment! But keep it going! I'm sure we would all like to see a 2.0L 20v turbo finished and running well. =)

Cheers!

Steve

Default I have my stock ATW block bored and stroked.

With the K04 I was able to produce 7 psi out of gear.

Here is a dyno of the 2 liter-K04. This is a standard J31 91 octane chip, base run is at 1 bar and test run is at 1.25 bar. I think the low 8:1 compression and larger fmic hurt the power a bit.

Default I think you mean 2.0 20v BIG turbo running well. =)

Had my 2 liter running for 5 months with no issues. Now to just get the big turbo all done.

Default So what happens when the belt stretchs

and their is no tensioner to take up the slack? I would hate to see something happen to all that work you have done in that motor if the belt was to skip a few teeth.
