1.8T
Chipping doesn't do much, if anything for a 2.8.
1.8T pros:
chippable
cheaper
turbo whistle
better gas mileage
lighter
Cons vs 2.8
2.8 has leather
v6 smoother
no chip/no warrantyl hassle
heavier

Not probably - definitely, at least in Summit County - which is pretty darn high. Before I chipped my 1.8T, I was up in Silverthorne visiting a friend. He has a 2.8. His response at seeing my "new" car at the time was at first "Cool - you got a A4, too!", quickly followed by "Oh - it's the little 4-banger". I clearly dissapointed him. Then, we did a bit of driving around that day, including a run up to the top of Eisenhower tunnel. You can guess the result. Chipped, the difference is even greater.

Drive both models and then make your decision.
Many people here are biased towards the 1.8t anyway so you really have to drive both to decide which is best. Personally, I don't like the 1.8ts much... they have cheap interiors and let's face it, that's where you spend the time in the car. I'd take a 6-cyl engine over a 4-cyl anyday. Then again, I don't care to mod the engine short of easy stuff like an intake or something. I like my car to start everyday.
