Need help from the experts PLEASE READ...
5 days ago I found a cig. butt in my alernator. No big deal kinda funny.
3 days ago I changed brakes (rotors and pads) and switch to Mobil 1. I also switched to a K&N oil filter just to see if it made a difference.
After 3 days of spirited driving I hear a noise coming from my engine bay. It was kind of a sheet metal clanking noise intermintent with the engine it stopped or died down when the rpms leveled out and got a little higher. So driving home very carefully and I was driving in 4th (Tiptronic Trans) no noise when all of a sudden my car dies and i hear a Swoosh or humming noise. I pull over the car is dead. Try to start back up and one turn over follwed by the humming noise. Not sure how much if any of this is relevent to the car killing over. Please help.

Timing belt scheduled to be changed this saturday. (by the way no, my timing belt is fine thankfully. my heart jumped out of me when it died and i jump out to check the belt)
If you just popped the hood and checked the visible belts, they will give no indication that the tb is gone

Serp belt tensioner bearing seized. The belt was forced so tight that it would stall the car if left at idle. Was hard to turn over and start. Eventually she started the car, kept the revs up, and it ate through the belt (causing a lot of smoke).
That's what I would check.
