Default Now seriously is 2L really worth the conversion.

I am trying to find some evidence that a 2L is really worth the conversion.
Any one have timeslips or something to show real performance of 2L.
Just because its bigger capacity does always mean more power, There are also more internal losses, more weight to spin up especially with longer throw cranks etc..
So far most of the A4 running into 12's have 1.8L, and trying to find someone who is running 2L that runs well.

Default I know it's "apples and oranges", but I can't help but think about 1.5L engines from the 80's in

F1 cars with the really long headers making 1200hp in qualifing trim. Discounting the lag in that era they where still pretty quick. chuckle. Even today a turbo car requires a different driving style over the NA's. I do think the added displacement is a bonus when used in these Audi tanks, but not the total answer.

Default Just look at ryans car.

He has a T28 on a 1984cc motor and made a nice increase in power but the power peaked much too early because the turbo was too small at that point.

Default Rarely over 12,500 rpms. The '88 Ferrari ran 2.5 bar@12,500rpms and made

650hp. The FIA had imposed a 4 bar limit by then so this Ferrari engine was looking for mileage at 2.5 bar and drivability with a 9.5 CR. In '86 Ford/Cosworth was making 900hp @11,500 rpms. The 4 cyl. BMW engines where all 2 to 3 year old 2002 (model) blocks with a lot of miles and at 3.5 bar @10,500 rpms would dyno at 830hp. Not bad! To get the 1000hp Renault and Honda would block off the wastegate, but just for qualifing.
Do the research. We aren't doing much different then they where doing almost 20 years ago, but we are getting it on to the street now.
