Default Performance That Doesn't Always Perform

Why is it that Audi never gets the whole mixture right? I mean, they almost always get the performance right, but is that really all there is to driving? Steering, gearbox, suspension, and the odd few times, brakes often let Audis down when they should claim top spots, giving the game away to Beemers, Mercs etc. The TT, A6, old A4, A3, Allroad, RS4 (most frustrating), A2 (some claim), all have one, more or all of these flaws. So it's across the range. Why can't they put 2 and 2 together to get 4 instead of 2 and a half?
