Default PES G2 Installed!

Got my A4 back up and running with minimal issues after installing the PES G2 Supercharger. The check engine light came on after starting it the first time I believe due to it sputtering and misfireing on the first try. Once it was underway, getting past a few stalls, the check engine light went off. The stalling issue, happened at stops when the engine was supposed to come down to an idle, seemed to go away once the computer "learned" But I am still experiencing a hesitation. It seems not to be getting full boost or possibly a fuel issue. Not sure. I have not changed the spark plugs out yet and I'm going to try that next and see how she does. Anyone with the PES G2 experience this? Does the computer need some more drive/learning time? Have not driven it too much so I could see that being a possiblity. Any insight is appreciated! When boost is there it feels awsome. So much low end torque now!

Default Congrats, you might try...

doing a throttle body adaptation using VAGCOM if you have one. Otherwise, I've found on my '98 that after reinstalling the ECU, turn ignition key to on position, wait three minutes, then start car. Also, double check your vacuum hose routing [see PES diagram] and inspect the vacuum hoses for cracks or leaks. You should be using the spark plugs which came with the kit, check them for proper gap and make sure the plug wires are seated properly at the plugs and the coil pack.

Default Yes, included with the kit.

NGK BKR7EVX-11, a platinum plug. Received the kit Oct '00. I'm currently researching places and cost for replacing them at 63k [30k use]. If you have a good source for NGK's, let me know. So far, have struck out with Summit Racing, AutoZone and NAPA. Advance Auto Parts carries NGK, just need some more ordering info from NGK to give to Advance.

Default I didn't get any because I told Tony I was sticking

with the stock heat range plugs. I ordered fresh stock plugs through a local auto parts store that handles NGK special orders. $50 for 6 IIRC. I've had no issues with the stock plugs.

Default I've always assumed that ...

every kit had the same plugs and were a kit requirement. The cheapest I've found so far on the internet is $5.47/plug. One thing I just read on the NGK web site concerning proper plug gap; NGK says to decrease the gap .004 inch for every 50 hp added to an engine modified from stock with a supercharger or turbocharger. If you're currently using the stock plug and gap, you could decrease the gap by .008.

Default I don't know how your plugs are constructed

but the BKR6EKUB plugs have dual curved prongs gapped from the side of the center electrode. I have yet to find a curved gapping tool to either measure or set the gap on these plugs. PES supplies the colder range plugs if you plan to race the car or live in a hot climate. That was the case in 4/01 and I did not want to chance cold start problems. If there is a way to set gap on the stock NGKs, I'd appreciate your input.

Default I don't know how credible this is...

Found a plug gap thread on the A6 forum.

https://forums.audiworld.com/A6/msgs/128241.phtml</a

Default Give Jacobs Electronics a call.

1-800-627-8800

They sell gapping pliers, part # 380700, which are advertised to precisely set and align the gap between the center and side electrodes for any style side electrode plug. The range is from .025in. to .085 in. The NGK BKR7EVX-11 is a single prong plug and is easy to set the gap by the user. Another alternative would be to contact NGK and request your plug with the gap you specify from them.

Jacobs Electronics
