VAG-COM? Depends on whether you need it or not......
It's useful for diagnosing problems, datalogging sensors, etc, etc.

Many of us have one...
If are doing a lot of mods and do your own work or if you get a lot CE lights, it is a great tool to have on hand. I am glad I got mine - I have used it so many times...

Yep, I've got one, used it many times. He also has GREAT customer service....
and runs an email list on Yahoogroups (there's a link on the website) for VAG-COM specific questions and discussion.
