VAG-COM? Depends on whether you need it or not......

It's useful for diagnosing problems, datalogging sensors, etc, etc.

It won't make your car go faster if that's what your thinking.

Yup.

If you want to know what is going on with your car this is the best affordable tool you can buy. Of course you need a PC, but you knew that...

Many of us have one...

If are doing a lot of mods and do your own work or if you get a lot CE lights, it is a great tool to have on hand. I am glad I got mine - I have used it so many times...
