Default Stand Alone EMS (engine management system)

Hey guys! Does anyone run an aftermarket EMS on their A4/S4? If so,... please tell me the brand, the cost, the tuning ability (ease or "bitchiness"), and your comments!

Much appreciated,... I'm curious because I'm going for the new AEM EMS Race version. Just wondering what else is out there,... just seems too good to pass up.

Default Would you like steamed or fried rice with that?

Someone has been watching The Fast and the Furious too much.

But hey, let us know how it works out. I'd love to see your wiring harness when you are done.

Default the guy who bought PES's old supercharger kit for the 1.8 has it..

couldn't get the bosch stuff to deal with a supercharged 1.8 well enough...so he went stand alone.

Not sure whose he's using, none of the japanese brands sound right to me, I think it was a Aussie or US company.

he'll probably pop up to post soon.

xr4tic is also looking into it as he is building up a motor with a big turbo right now.

Default I'll be taking pictures of every step

Hey there! I'll take some pictures when it's done. But I don't forsee any problem with the AEM EMS. But if it does become too complicated, I'll just have to use a custom chip, boost and fuel controller again. We'll see!

He is using the Autronic EMS. Rob K. is using the Tec II on his 12V.

it's quite a pita to instal. There is a guy in KY that seems to be a better support guy than the guys out in CA the he was dealing with before. Get in contact with him and I'm sure he would answer any questions you might have.

Default Would it be easier to buy a spare ECU....

...and use the pinouts on that by separating the plug from the board? That would allow you to spend some time working out the wiring without hacking up the harness.

Just a thought,

Default hmmm..that's not a bad idea, butit might be so 1 to 1 like that

if it is, that makes a helluvalotta sense. I would think SRS would have thought of that thought...especially with alll the money Larry endedup spending there.
