Default Stoptech problem. . .

I have talked to a couple people on AW and they seem to have the same problem I do with my stoptechs. When going very slowly (less than 10mph) I hear a rubbing sound. I know it is from the brakes, if I put my foot on the brake just enough to make the brakelights come on the sound stops. What is this sound/vibration? How many people have it? I know a few people on this forum currently have or have had this problem? Any ideas?

Default pads running on the rotors

if you chamfer the edges, and use liberal amounts of anti-squeel it seems to help

Default Piston in caliper not fully retracting?

Faulty rattle clips for the pads? Take the brakes off and reinstall them again. That may cure the rub.

Default I'm sure they were.

But since it takes a whole 5 minutes to remove the pads and caliper, might as well give it a try. Hey, why don't YOU just shut it...

Default Hehe

After installing virtuallu BILLIONS (well, like, more than I can count on one hand (calipers) more than I can count on ten hands (pads), there's really nothing that could cause Simon's issue that could be solved be R&R'ing the calipers and pads. If anything, the pad abuttment plates need the be checked. That's really the only option.

Otherwise Stoptech needs to look into other options.

Default Fixed the problem.

My pads were getting stuck on the rotors b/c they were not ground down enough on the top and bottom edges of the pads (just on the passenger side though). So I ground them down a little more (very little) and slid them back in (they were still good and snug but definately fit better) and bam! no more rubbing or brake noise, thanks for all the help.

Except Mark. . . he can go to hell

P.S. You should come see the place now that you've moved out Mark. It's lookin' good. Except I need my big tv back from my old roommate ;~/

Default Sweet - good work. Be careful not to remove too much material

from the top and bottom of the backing plate, or they'll start to rattle like a *****.

Bring me my mail!!!
