Default Wastegate

I have up a couple wastegates off Audi 5000s and I was wondering what kind of HP levels they are able to support. It there a certain HP level when the wastegate is just too small to bleed off the amount of exhaust in order to keep the boost level in check?

Thanks,
Eric

Default Re: Wastegate

The more boost you run the smaler the waste gate can be cause it doesnt have to vent so much exhaust gases.
if you have a big turbo and you run low boost with smal waste gate (5-10psi)you are gona experience boost creep.

Default It is when the wastegate cant let off the exhaust fast enough to keep the boost level

where you want it. It is the same thing as a boost spike.

Default No, turbo lag is the time it takes you to get boost. Boost creep/spike is when

you get too much boost. I guess you can call it wastegate lag. =)

Default Basically, the wastegate lets out exhaust gasses a different way to prevent the turbo(more)

Basically, the wastegate lets out some of the exhaust gasses through a different path than the turbine to prevent it from spinning to fast which would create too much boost. If it can't let out enough gas the turbo spins faster than you want it too creating more boost than you want which is boost creep.
