Default XR4TIC...

Hey what dour your vacume gauge read at idle...Mines at like -13psi...just seems so fricken low...I keep checking all the lines with no luck. CMH says his is at about -14. So I guess the compression affects it that much? Its supose to be 8:5:1 shows abbout 175 psi in all 4 cylinders.

I got about 650 miles on it so far.

Default Yeah, mine is around there on my 2.8 ~-15

Driving and let off the gas it can get ~25

Default Around 20 in. Hg.....

which is around -10 psi. It will hit 25 in. Hg on decelleration (-12.5psi)

That's what it was before I put the new motor in, that's what it's at now.

FWIW, I have ~160psi in my cylinders with 9.0:1 compression. I have a feeling that if I had a new head versus my high-mileage (90K+) head, that number would increase.

I must got a leak...could it be anything else besides a leak?

I gotta get a longer allen key or socket and really crank down the intake manifold. Maybe my over used gasket is showing its signs...it looked fine when I looked at it right before re-using. I cant hear any leaks from anywhere...pretty frustrating...checked all the gauge lines too. Does the vag show the vacume at all?

Default The VAG doesn't show vacuum....

at least not in the nonDBW cars.

You could try spraying some Ether (starting fluid) around some of the gasket joints and see if the idle rises at all. If it does, then there is a leak in the area you are spraying.

I guess you could try a new intake gasket if you reused the old one, I put all new ones on mine, it was worth the peace of mind.
