Q5 spongy brake feel - problem with brake seal
Bought New 2014 - 2.0 Q5 technique pkg in April From day one we noticed brakes for soft - increased travel time before u feel its grabbing/stopping although effective when pushed fully but couple of seconds delay from the time u push brake pedal to the time u feel brakes, scary feeling. This was clearly different from what we experienced on test drive - would have not bought the car with this kind of feel where u r not confident when brake are going too work, this is my wife's car she stopped driving we did only 400kms since bought mostly parked - took to the dealer last week - mechanic test drove and said nothing is wrong this is normal for Q5 I insisted to test drive other Q5 and guess what - I was right test vehicle brakes were stronger - asked for manager to look he test drove and agreed brakes are spongy suspected air in the system and took for flushing came back after 30 mins mentioning there is a problem with brake seal leading to leak of break fluid and absorbing air - car is not safe to drive and gave me loaner vehicle until parts arrive from Germany (week to ten days)
was surprised that this was a factory defect - no one checked on PDI, I was delivered unsafe vehicle when I brought it back mech thought I am crazy and was sending me back until Insisted to see manager because this is not what we test drove we would have never bought a car with such a spongy brakes.
Anyone if have similar problem ask for brake inspection there is a problem with brake seal -apparently this is a small rubber seal.
this is our first Audi hope this is the only defect we have. Otherwise is a great car although we have not driven a much due to brake issues.
