I love my Q5 in the snow....
Sunday, drive downhill from Bear Mountain on the front 18 when it had just started snowing again and with some slippery old snow on the road already, several cars spinning and hitting the wall, guardrails or eachother, no problem in the Q5
Monday, driving up to Mt Baldy to enjoy a foot of freshies. Cars getting stuck, seeing several accidents and the usual cali-chain-stupidities, but again no problem for the Q even on pretty icy inclines. not rushing anything and with a velvet touch on the throttle, it was a breeze getting to the top parkinglot leaving many in the dust and my snow-loving passengers and some fellow road-users impressed at the Q's performance
The stock allweather tires (still cant justify snow-tires here living at the beach), chains boxed up in the back, this is exactly why I bought this car and just simply love it!
No hassles means more pow-runs on the mountain

Yeah I drove the 18 all the way, detouring trough arrowhead to avoid the blocked 330 and especially avoid the crowded 38.
On the way up I already took the 18 and it was so nice and quiet, and such fun switchbacks and windy sections with double lanes, so good for overtaking the slowies. Only the topsection on Rim of the World is single-lane but it was quiet enough and the evil DRL's usually stare people down to use a turnout haha!
On the way back I considered the 38, but I saw that traffic was already backed up in town, so I ducked over the bridge, cruized opposite side of the lake and went 18 again. Just behind the bridge construction is where trouble started for many cars, but not mine

How was the drive down on the 38 by the way?
Saw a bunch of Q's up there too. Mine is recogizable by a small Flow Snowboarding sticker on the rear window just below the spoiler. I work for them and am up at Bear quite often, say hi if you see me

enjoy!

Anyway, we're up there a lot too. We have a house up there, in Moonridge. Next time you go, let me know. We can all meet for a drink. Summit Lodge makes a mean bloody mary! LOL. you can email me at timothy.fitz@me.com We're up there probably at least twice a month.
Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
The problem with this kind of test is that this type of situation will never happen in real life, you never experience zero traction to the point that it won't send power else where and Torsen reacts quicker than any other type of all wheel drive system especially so against these electronic system with which their competitors generally use which includes BMW.
Truth is that in slippery conditions the best system for the job is Torsen, it why I buy Audis. Put good tires on them and they will go anywhere.
