Can dealer swap wheels from 21" to 20" on a brand new SQ5?
Looking into getting into an 2018 SQ5 Prestige but don't like the 21" will summer tires. I want the car with the right options except for the 21" wheel which does give a lot of options for all season tires. Has anybody asked the dealer to swap into a 20" will all season?

@gray911 I was in exactly the same position. My dealer was not willing to swap out the wheels (might also be due to the fact that my car was being transferred from another dealer). In the end, I am really happy with the 21" wheels (they look great IMO), despite the fact that I have already purchased and installed winter tires (it snows where I live). I'm looking forward to spring and swapping back to the sticker tires for the dry season.

My dealer said the car is limited to a top speed of 150'ish with the 21's and 130'ish mph with the 20's. My guess is that's just a programming change. I haven't ordered it yet. He could be giving me a line of crap. Wants to sell me the one with 21's on the lot. I want 20's all season...Would rather not change my tires with every oil change.

My dealer (in Colorado) said the car is built with those wheels and it’s difficult to swap them out. They don’t have wheels just sitting around in stock, so they would have to order them and they are expensive ($950 each). I decided to order 20” BBS wheels myself with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires from TireRack. BBS wheels are made in Germany and makes some of the OEM wheels for Porsche. I may sell the Audi OEM 21’s with summer tires or keep them for summer.

Here is how we got that done. We were looking for a specific SQ5, Prestige, some kind of black (we ended up with Panther), and red leather seats. One of these beauties was "on a boat" and destined for inventory. Our dealer claimed it. The ONLY thing we did not want (and the dealer, knowing the Cincinnati climate, encouraged) was the 21" wheels. The dealer asked if he could contact other "current" SQ5 customers to see who might want to swap. A doctor had "just" purchased a new SQ5 with the 20" wheels -- and he wanted the 21's. We met at the dealer, shook hands -- no paperwork, no money changed hands, etc. -- and the swap was engineered. Something was done with respect to the VINs to make the great computer in the cloud know that our Panther Black SQ5 had 20" and that the doctor's silver SQ5 now has 21" wheels/tires.
We ordered four new Continental Extreme Contact DWS 20" tires and had them mounted, road-force balanced, and put on our new 2014 SQ5. We didn't want the summer-only tires that were on the doctor's SQ5, even though they had only hundreds of miles on them.
The dealer expedited all of this -- we did not have to pay for the mounting, balancing, etc. I don't think the doctor had to pay anything either.
Everyone walked away happy.
The thing about this is that you have to be willing to do what I just outlined and you need a cooperative dealer who will, initially, preserve everyone's privacy. We only met the doctor one time, shook hands and never seen him since.
Some dealers are probably less, er, enthusiastic about doing such acrobatics and administrivia. We've bought so many Audis from the same dealer -- since 1977 -- perhaps we do receive special consideration. Whatever: Our dealer is fantastic!
