I think it is the same part found in my Q5. A wise, experienced, or motivated designer could have made it just 1/4" taller, so a gas card or other standard credit card could fit in there. Nein! That would have used more plastic and made the truck heavier, lowering the EPA MPG ratings.

LOL That's always a consideration! Of course, larger spaces hold more air, too (which is pretty light stuff!).

After coming out of a Passat TDI SEL, I was surprised at how poorly thought out many of the interior features are on the Q7. I felt like the Passat's design team must have been living inside my head when they sketched that thing out. It was intuitive, clever, and natural.
