Default Am I missing a gear?

I'm not missing a gear, I'm just kinda surprised at the gearing that Audi chose. At 65MPH, in 6th gear indicated, the V-8 is turning over at around 2200 RPM. My '04 Lexus LS430, with 4.3 liter V-8 is at around 1100 at the same speed. Granted the Q7 is about 800 pounds heavier and all wheel drive but double the RPM?

It's just the way the Q7 is geared, 2011+ models have 8 speed so that significantly helps. My 2008 4.2 is the exact same. Kind of annoying when you are paying for premium gas! Haha!

It's why I take the 3.6 on longer highway trips and the 4.2 stays in the garage...

Tdi!

At about 70mph my 4.2tdi is doing about 1200 rpm similar gearing to the Lexus.
