Thanks Edd, but I've had the battery checked. The technician says it has to go to the dealer. He says the immobilizer is bad.. What the what?!?! I just parked at Walmart and now it doesn't start..

Most likely your ECU failed, I had the same problem 2 weeks ago, only a dealer can recode the ECU. Ask if they can code a used one. New is around 1200$

thanks! $1200 sounds better than $2500 for an emobilizer ..

Did you have scan codes pulled out?

If my ECU has failed would my steering column still unlock? I went out today and the car indicated low battery... Wow this gets more complicated. Could it just be a battery issue and not an ECU?

If the battery is the original, change the battery. I have a 2007 and had the original battery died last month - it tested fine several weeks earlier. The electronics in these cars are so sensitive that once the battery starts to go, gremlins pop up everywhere.

Even if the ECU failed your steering column can still lock and unlock.

Default Crank sensor

Sounds like the crank position sensor to me. My car had the exact same symptoms which finally led to a crank/no start symptom. I limped home on 4-5 cylinders (or 8 way out of time).

I had your symptoms about a year before it finally almost left me stranded. I remember using the key a few times because the keyless start would not engage.
