Default Car temporarily won't start in middle of trips to cold area

On two occasions my car will not start. The instrument panel turns on, the wheel unlocks, but the starter doesn't do anything at all. each instance happened when I drove from warmer Santa Monica weather to cooler higher altitude ski area weather, and the problem only happened in the exactly same parking spot where I rent my snowboard. After 25 minutes and many attempts, each time, the car suddenly started again. Once up at the ski hill parking lot an hour further up the road, the engine still restarts after stopping. And at the end of the day the engine starts just fine. Occasionally, if I put the key in and turn it too quickly, it won't start. I have to instead insert the key, wait for the unlock, then turn it and wait for rest of the instrument panel and lights, then start the ignition. So turning the car is a slow three phase process that takes about 3 seconds. I can't rush it in less than one second or it simply won't do anything.

Anyone have any idea what this is? I'm going to take it to the dealership next week, but I generally don't love the dealerships because I find that they throw too many parts at problems, they don't fix only the part that needs to be fixed, and I"m pretty handy so I can usually do a lot of repairs myself. But this one has me stumped.

I used an app called Carista to do a diagnostics, and I did find these codes including one having to do with ignition that goes as follows:
Ignition authorization
Part #: 4F0910852
Coding: 131 (decimal)
Component: FBSAUDIC6 ELV
Fault codes:
01176 Key Faulty
00166 Access/Start Authorization Switch (E415)

Here's the full diagnostic readout from carista. And also, other than the occasional misfires when the engine is cold this car operates quite well. Its not quite the mess that the codes make it look like.

Super helpful if you could tell us the year and model of your Q7. Diesels have to warm their glow plugs when cold. If cold enough you need an additive in your diesel fuel so it won’t gel. That said, I’ve rarely needed a glow plug warm up with my TDI when skiing. If you have a gasser I’m at a loss.

Edit:

So looking at your Carista you have a 2008 or 2009 3.6L gasser, correct? Not sure what the issue might be, perhaps you need to replace one of the ignition relays.

It’s a 2008 gas 3.6L Q7 I think it’s called the premium package.

Thanks!

Engine misfires indicates something wrong with getting the right fuel mixture to start the engine (or keep it running). Engine misfires also tend to occur in cold weather

The most likely component seems to be the ignition switch. Paste this FBSAUDIC6 ELV from your scan into a Google search and do some reading.
Those random misfires and the incorrect airflow at idle are not likely related. I would clear all codes and watch to see what recurs.
Good luck!
