Changing Speedo faceplate to KPH
Hi I have a 2013 TDI Q7 that I bought in the US so of course it has the US speedometer. I am planning on selling it in Canada and would like to change the speedometer face plate to metric or KPH. I have found some metric gauge clusters for sale. Does anyone know if I can just change out the speedo face plate and not the tach side ? Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

Why? Just go into car settings and change your units of measure the car displays to metric; simple...done, free. It's already got the center display for digital speed readout and other salient details you can toggle between, all you need to do is change your preferences for the display (metric system) via the MMI...super easy.

My car is also USA. I went into settings and have it displaying KPH. Where I am having trouble is the HEAVY FUEL part. Suggestions welcome. Even the dealer was lost on that.....

Seriously though, there's a toggle option in the MMI for fuel economy reminders; a 'fuel-nanny', if you will. I leave that turned off on ours. They would show up in the message/info display area, so I believe that's what you are seeing.

It's all perception/point-of-view, there Edzzed. What I see is a retired guy at a lakehouse, with nice 'toys', and whose premium SUV, is getting all the old, worn-out bits replaced by the TDI extended warranty. I should be so very lucky, lol. I've got a ways to go before I catch up to you parts-wise on my '10, but my warranty stretches to 135k miles, as was a late-fix (concurrent 4yrs/48k miles began in July 2019). I'm coming for you, Edzzed...I want all those old, sketchy, clogged and worn-out parts gone, and sooner rather than later .
