Default FEDERAL Emissions Warranty NOx Sensor

Long story...I have an '09 Q7 TDI. Manual doesn't even acknowledge a TDI was available that year. Need to see the 2010 Warranty Book (or 2011 or 2012...).

Just had it in for Check Engine Light. 64,000 miles. The "NOx" sensor failed, which only comes attached to the Control Module. Walk out price was $780! I insist this should be covered under the 8yr, 100k Federal Emissions Warranty. But my book doesn't list the NOx sensor as covered, so "no coverage". "OK, let's look at 2010!" No sir, yours is a 2009. "Yes, but the TDI was a late 2009 model not properly documented in the owners manual!" Sorry sir, no point in looking at 2010 warranty.

Could ANYONE (don't have to have a TDI) go look in their 2010+ Warranty booklet and see if there is any coverage under Q7 3.0TDI for anything resembling a NOx sensor (SCR sensor?) in the FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY table? It is a table with systems down the side (cat converter, ECM, O2 sensor, etc.) and vehicles across the top. If you can copy and email it to me that would be even better, but just posting here will get the conversation started. THANKS!

See this thread (listed in the spreadsheet both Elec fault column and TSB section anyway!)

Must have taken me all of 5 or 6 seconds to find it.
Why do you guys not use it?

Default I did STFA! Thanks for the slap...is their a gentlemen who would help?

I did STFA. This does not address my problem. I am simply asking if someone with a 2010 or newer Audi (ANY Audi) would look in their warranty booklet for me, on the Federal Emissions Warranty page, and see if the NOx Sensor is listed as a covered equipment under Q7 TDI.

8/80 cover. Correct I didnt strictly answer the question you asked. On the other hand there is a known issue and TSB and I thought the numbers might help. Sorry for venting on your thread.

I dont see why you need the Audi Warranty booklet anyway as: 2009 Two federal emission control warranties exist. Both cover emissions-related parts for 2 years/24,000 miles, plus 8 years/80,000 miles on the catalytic converter and any on-board diagnostic device. These warranties cover emissions performance (whether or not the car is able to pass an emissions test) as well as design and defect issues.

Only trying to help, please report back with outcome.

Default Still need the 2010+ table

Thanks, but the problem is that the warranty manager pulled up the 2009 Manual, scanned through the Federal Emissions Warranty, and seeing no NOx Sensor listed, denied the claim. The '09 manual doesn't even acknowledge the TDI exists, so it is not going to show the NOx sensor.

I'm confident that the 2010 booklet will show the NOx sensor. I just need to see one to use in my defense to try to recover the big bill!

You should probably also check with Audi of America, as the dealer is not the arbiter of whether this is covered or not.
