Default Ford ATF Fluid or alternative for transmission?

Ive read alot of people opted out of using oem atf fluid and used instead the inexpensive ford atf or other compatible. is it still working after long term use of other fluids? how long have been running it. Which alternate fluid will you recommend that you know will play well with 2007 4.2 Q7? i am assuming is the G055? blue? any alternative ford or other?

I have heard of exactly zero people doing this. Where are you getting your information? I’d only use the recommended Aisin or ZF fluid to match your transmission.

I do think you are driving the wrong vehicle. Ford ATF should be for ford vehicles and not for a German made vehicle. Maybe that is why the manufactory claims no service needed which I don't believe myself on that theory. If the OEM fluid is too expensive for you, I recommend selling it and move to something else. Its just MHO.

Ford uses ZF transmissions and Ford uses Aisin transmissions. It could be that that some of the Ford fluid is exactly the same as what Audi uses. But how do you know? I'm not sure I'd have the wherewithal to figure it out, but with one vehicle to service every few years I doubt it would be worth the time to do the research, or take the risk without doing the research.

Your V8 use Aisin TR60SN, 09D transmission, and 12 liters of ATF0T4 fluid.(Audi/VW part # G055025A2)

The following model use same type of ATF0T4 fluid. Or lots of people use mobil 3309.

Choose whatever is convenience for you.

No transmission fluid is lifetime. It needs to be changed at least every 100k. Heat breaks it done.
Audi and Ford share tech now, so you need to just match the specs.

YES, or any fluid says meets T-IV specs.

You can find lots of discussions about this on toyota, lexus, and volvo forum as well as BITOG forum.
And you may want to check price of mobil 3309, cause Toyota T-IV is made by Mobil.

BTW, the color of ATF0T4 is red, not blue.
