I've seen the posting from a bunch that are having the same problem, they say it's either the door handles or the ignition switch or the antenna.
Yes you can get a good idea from the VAGCOM, but I haven't heard of any one fixes the problem themselves out of warranty. Can you buy the parts ??
from looking at the ETKA it's not the door handle it's the micro switch (8H0959985B)or what they call the Bow(4L0839884A). can you buy these parts. I think if you can take the door apart
you can fix this stuff.. Is there a write up on how to take the doors apart? go to you tube and you can see guys taking the door handles off. Nothing to them unless
that's the model without keyless entry. I'm looking in to fixing mine and thanks every one there was a bunch of information in this forum. but I never heard of any one fixing it themselves.
my batteries were just replaced. The system die a slow death, borrowing a VAG to see what the codes are. I hope it's just the keyless antenna wherever that is. is there a part number for that ??
I get nothing any more. we can still use the key to open the doors like poor people use to. but that's no fun. Haven't tried the key less start yet , just I know the doors lock don't work with the keys. I want to fix mine because I want to trade my Q7 in. If any one has a 2013 with the tow package let me know but I have to get rid of my 2007 first or trade it in.

here's a short list of failures. I pulled the tire monitor fuse and turned off the module because we couldn't fix it and who cares so I had some failures because of that but I don;t under stand the battery management system, maybe pulling the fuse has an effect on that two. misfires are when the car is cold , we get alittle spudder right when you take off when it's cold. but I still don't have a check engine light. One thing at a time. look like the antenna is gone for the remotes. anyone tell me what might be gone here ?? cars a mess but runs great..

Have you had a flat battery lately?
Looking that all 4 door handles are knackered.

I would first say make sure battery is charged then clear all codes.
Next try to firstly lock car by pressing the button on each handle to see if it responds. if it locks of one pressing the next will still flash indicators if working.
Then try to unlock by touching each handle. id none work gently pull the handle to see if that works if it does the handle may be working but the other on that side is stopping it.
Then rescan and post.

ok I'll try it but we haven't had any problems with the battery car seems to drive and be normal. I think there are multiple problems here, I think the remote key antenna is shot - TSB for it. when I push the start button for the key-less start the remote lights up like normal just nothing happens. the car can't see the key unless I stick it in the ignition. all the door handles are dead like most have experienced. I don;t care if they ever work again. but I'd like to get the remote fob to at least unlock the doors. trying to get some of this stuff fixed before I trade it in.. not sure I can get parts anyway. I have to believe you can take the door handle or the door electronic out and fix it. Got a guy in the lab at work that might be able to if I can take the handles apart. don't know if there are service able or not. any one found a cheap place to buy them?? yes I know you have to have them painted. I'l try what you suggested and repost. remember I turned off the tire pressure monitor system and pulled the fuse. that may have triggered some other fault. just trying to get the remote to work to unlock the doors.

So you think the keys need to be re-adapted to the car. maybe the battery was low in remote and it didn't work very well and my wife tried it a ton of times. I don't understand the car battery stuff, I've never had a problem with anything that battery is maybe two years old. what about the door handles being bad , I read it's a whole complete system if the handles don't work neither does the remotes or the keyless start. Acc/start module faults.. can you match keys or remotes with the VAGCOM?? not sure why both remotes don't work.. I'll have to do the batter test while I have the VAG COM.

If your wife is like my wife, she will wear out the buttons on the key. I've replaced the batteries is both main keys on the 4.2 now twice in less than two years. One was completely dead, the other had a dramatically shorter range and wouldn't open the rear hatch.

The 3.6 just has a bad antenna (broken solder joint at window I'm guessing), as one of the keys is only about 1.5 months old, two tops, and it has a VERY short range of 5-10ft.

where is the antenna in the car , any pictures so I can check it?? can the VAGCOM check the anntenna ?? I've heard of a bad ignition switch too. All I want is to the the remotes working again and the keyless starting . I don't care about the door handles.. the energy manager system could be a bad module also, I'll see if I can test that tonight with VAGCOM or at least grab some data. I hope I don't have to take it some place to remarry the remotes.
