I sent a photo to my SA today and asked if they would replace my drivers seat bottom. He is looking into it so hopefully "fingers crossed" I will have a new seat bottom soon.

It shouldn't matter - audi should replace it if it is normal wear within warranty. Different years with different optioned interiors have different leather & leatherette sections on the seats.

Agreed- no matter if its leather or vinyl it is still crappy material if it wears out in 42K miles... I am just surprised the whole seating surface isn't leather.

Yep- you should be getting a new seat bottom as well. The problem is- it will obviously happen again in about 4 yrs. Need to sell the car quick....

my 2008 Sudi Q7 also cracked at about 30k miles. My Audi dealership wouldn't do anything about it. I figured it was because I purchased a used Q7 (1 yr. old) from a BMW dealership. Maybe I should have pressured more...but jut to let you know, mine cracked in the exact same place.

If was still under the OEM 4yr/50k warranty then, yes, you should have gotten a new seat bottom. It really is amazing how differently we are treated by dealers. From what I understand this is because dealers are only allowed so many warranty claims per month/year. If you happen to ask at a time they are near/at their limit, you will be denied. I suspect it also had to do with you not buying there or possibly not having a service history with them.

Hi all, new to this forum, well joined a while ago but never been on til I brought A Q7 for the wife as the family car, we had a A6 Allroad 09 plate before that, so be gentle. I have used Gliptone liquid leather cleaner and conditioner on my leather seats, probably 3 times a year and it Keeps them like new and makes the leather feel really soft and most importantly keeps the oem mat finish.

here are some pics of my TT seats before and after:
