Looking for advice on tdi purchase
Hello. I am in the market to pick up an used Q7 TDI (2012-2013). Could you recommend what to look for in a TDI with over 60k miles?
Thanks

Aside from the general used car due diligence type stuff, I guess some Q7 specific things might be:
- Do you plan to tow? If so, look for one with the tow package and verify if it's a factory tow package with all the correct wiring etc. You'll spend some money adding a factory tow package on at a dealer if the car you buy doesn't have it, so factor that in.
- Check that all the tools and spare and owners manual are included. The tool you will use the most is for opening the AdBlue port and in my Q7 came wrapped up with some other tools in a compartment under the floor in the rear hatch area. There is also a tool for the license plate frame in there as well as the stuff for your spare.

Thank you Kristatos.
There is a lot of info with respect to AdBlue. Many say that it can be topped off by the individual. Do you need a VAGCom to reset or does it reset itself over time and change pressure?

My '10 TDI doesn't require anything special - just add more AdBlue when the warning light comes on and it is good to go. When I get the car serviced at the regular intervals I ask them to omit the AdBlue "flush" or whatever they call it which is just them adding AdBlue and charging $100 for the privilege. I can stand there and dump the stuff in for less, and I verified with the techs that they don't do anything more than top it off. The warning light comes on 1,500 miles before the car will shut down and not run, so only a complete tool would ever get into a situation where running out of AdBlue caused any hassle. It is available at every auto parts store and many gas stations around here.

yea no issues on my 2010 either. TDI is what you need. Won't regret it. As far as buying, best place to get one is probably at a dealer, like bmw, benz, jag, land rover, etc that got it as a trade in. They will be looking to sell it cheap (as they already raped the buyer on the trade in value) and it being a recognized brand name dealership, they have to fix any deficiencies on the SUV before selling it

Q7 2012 TDI
I have this model and have had minimal issues with it. I've been debating getting a new car but just realized I love my 2012 and am probably just going to extend my warranty and keep this car. It's solid, reliable. I'm not sure I love the 2017 Q7 model appearance as much. Have fun with yours!

I picked up a 14' TDI loaded for my wife and we love it. I find myself taking it over the S4 whenever I have my pick of the 2 in the garage. Solid ride, solid engine and paired with better, newer tech than whats in mine. Air suspension is nice and the Adaptive cruise is a trip- I can set the speed I want and the distance I'm comfortable with being to the car in front of me and then sit back and not touch the gas or the brake for the rest of the ride- even in bumper to bumper traffic the car damn near drives itself.
