Our 2015 Prestige was special ordered (note the pano roof delete) in September 2014, and we specifically made inquiries all the way up to AOA Headquarters regarding the removal of ACC for the 2015 model year. For a vehicle delivered in December 2014, ACC was definitely not available, regardless of what the brochures might have said. The order guide from the same time period as my order said the same thing. It's possible they re-added it later in the model year (as I recall, it was an unusually long model year while waiting for the 2nd gen Q7 to arrive), but I was completely unable to get it added to my order at any cost.

At any rate, it sounds like this event was textbook Brake Assist - I'm glad to hear it was normal behavior, and now I know what to expect.

Ah-ha - I found the ACC discrepancy (though I didn't find the recently posted brochures you mentioned; I'll look harder). It was offered only as part of the limited run Sport Edition package, which came out late in the 2015 model year after my order was placed. I now remember noting at the time that Sport Edition couldn't be had with Bang & Olufsen sound, which would have been something of a deal breaker for me.

Brake assist definitely feels like that.

It detects the time from accelerator to brake pedals as well as the may the brake pedal is pressed.

It will have activated the hazard lights as well.
