Smell of gas
#21
I have had to replace both fuel pumps due to leaks at the weep hole, hard to notice because the engine evaporates small amounts of fuel leaking, terrible design, gas leaks onto the electrical connector and could cause a fire.

Yes, I did have some standing gas in the connector area as well. One good spark and the vehicle will light up like a candle maybe! German engineering is great, but this design is odd!

Thanks for this thread!! Been smelling gas in the garage for weeks. Thought it was my lawn mower. Ended up finding gas leaking around the driver's side of the gas tank to the point where it was dripping on the garage floor! Removed the middle seats and also found standing gasoline on the fuel filter. Can't believe this was right under my daughters seat. As a side note: no need to remove the entire seat. I had plenty of space just removing the plastic anchor pieces and lifting the seat bottom out. Took 5 minutes to find the root of the problem...

Reimbursement!
I did ask to be reimbursed for the fuel filter flange I replaced back in 2015. I wrote a letter and included a copy of the receipt of what I paid for the part. Audi did send me a check for 247.00. So do write them!

Update: Flange to be replaced under recall, but discovered the fuel pump and a connector were cracked. Parts have to come from LA and its Friday at 4:30p so it'll be a week before repair is complete. All will be covered by Audi so I'm happy with that, just not that it took 5 calls from me to get someone to tell me whats going on.

I just started smelling gas in the garage after a drive (12 q7, I thought it was due to Vegas heat). Called audi they said the recall has been done over 2 years ago. So what to do now? How can you recall a serious defect "fix" it then it happens again..
