21" Snow/Winter Wheel & Tire Fix
Currently researching a wheel and tire solution? I have 21" wheels and not sure if I want to go the 295/35VR-21 Pirelli Scorpion route?
Searching ebay for a set of 19" or so to swap out.
Does anyone have experiance using their low-profile tire/wheel set up in light snow conditions?
thanks,

I have used low profiles in hat past and in my situation, it doesn't work.
I have 19's on my Q7 4.2. Yesterday I bought four perfect 18's off a Q7 (Ebay) for $450. I bought the Tire Pressure Sensors form the largest tire seller for about $80 each. I bought Pirelli Ice and Snows. My mechanic tells me that I am now set to climb icy walls.

I live in PA so the winter overall is not that bad compared to other states. I also have the luxury of working from home when it gets really bad out. I tried to balance maintaining a great look during the winter and stability in the snow.

Hi thanks digitalwok,
did a little research and found some chains for 21" wheels (maybe work fo 22"?).
Buying another set of wheel is still a definate maybe considering the cost is not bad for 19" wheels & tires.
But maybe the temporary fix is below considering where I am located mostly high temps. Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park in the Sierra Nevadas 45-50 min. away otherwise 99% of the time drive on dry and/or rain.

I have 20" Audi 10-spoke rims with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 and the tire pressure sensors as my summer package. My winter package are 18" Nokian Hakkapelita R sitting on O.Z. Canyon Rims with it's own tire pressure sensors. Every season just swap out the entire wheel. I admit I've done summer/ winter on the same profile, only needing to swap tires which is lighter, but I think the Q looks best on 20's

It sounds like you are not in the need for a hardcore winter setup, perhaps 21 inch snows would work just fine. I usually recommend switching to snows if the ambient drops below 40F, and choose your rubber compound depending on what you see most often (dry / wet roads or snow / ice). While using 21 inch tires saves you from buying another set of alloys and TPMS modules, the aggravation of mounting / dismounting tires could prove to be quite time consuming.

Hi everyone,
I used the following Z-Chain "cables" yesterday and they worked awsome! Minimal noise on the pavement and great on the ice/snow at 5,000 - 7,000 elevation. The Q was cutting through trails with no problems. Bought these on Amazon for 80 bucks a pair.
As mentioned this is a quick fix perhaps for this winter. Please take a look at the pics below.
