Default Steering/MMI buttons,signals,wipers don't work. 2007 Q7 Premium

I would appreciate any help if you have experience with something like this. I have a chance to get a 2007 Q7 3.6 Premium for a great price because it's having some electrical issues. All the dash indicator lights are on, nothing on the steering wheel works (buttons, signals, indicators, cruise). The MMI screen is on, but stays on the Audi logo and none of the MMI buttons work. All the air conditioning, sunroof, locks, windows, lighting all works just fine though.

It seems like there must be just one module or relay or something bad, but I don't want to buy this thing and then find out I need to spend another $5k to fix it.

Any ideas?

thanks,
matthew

Know of any way to test if it's clockspring without replacing it? And has anyone ever used one of the cheap Chinese replacement clocksprings ($90 instead of $400 for OEM)?

i am only guessing so i would not throw big money at it until you narrow it down to it being that specific part. perhaps someone is in your area and can let you borrow theirs and test if resolves your issue(s).
