Default Testing of Lift Gate Motors

I have a vagcom diagnostic tool and wanted to see if there was a test to trouble shoot if one or both of my lift gate motors are bad. I opens fine , but closes only once every 10 times, Because they are so expensive, if I can help it I would hope only one is bad. Thanks

That is what I originally thought, but called Audi dealer and they indicated 2. I wish there was only one.

I have the same issue but I assumed it was the button sticking or not functioning properly instead of the actual motor. Sometimes when I push the button harder it closes...

Default OK, now the lift gate will not open unless I have the ignition on

If the ignition is on or car running the lift gate opens fine but still does not close without assistants. Other wise when I try to open with the button on drivers door or the latch in back nothing happens, So could it be the battery?

But ran a scan and it show 14.x volts. Does that matter? Thanks for your reply @dreadlocks

How old is the Audi? Mine was about 4-5 years old on the original when it needed replaced..

The lift gate was the first thing to start acting odd, then other lil weird things started like MMI taking forever to come up in morning and other strange issues like accessory plugs were not constantly powered.. then finally we had a cold snap about a month after all this started, got down to single digits and it refused to start w/out a jump.. installed a new battery and everything was well again, never had another issue w/lift gate.
