Buying used Q7, what should I lookout for
- Are there any particular issues I should look out?
- Any special tests or inspections I should do?
- I have VCDS, anything special I should read or monitor while test driving?
Any help would be much appreciated, wife is worried about buying a used car, and in particular the 2007 Q7 after having read Consumer Reports rating on it.
Can I somehow inspect it and see if it is still a problem with this particular car?
Speaking of TSB's is there a place where I can get a list of all the TSB's?
Sorry for the many questions; first tim buying a used car :-)
Some TSBs are only performed on a fail basis so your car may not have them. What if you find a 2007 that has been garaged and never had a sunroof drain or frame problem?
You can ask any service dept for the history if you have the VIN.
To inspect pull/pop off the dash ends where the fuses are and look for rust on the pillars. Open the panel in the rear right and same thing, look for evidence of water.
Find out if any of the door locks have been replaced. Find out if it had any dead battery issues (same thing).
Most 07s will be on a new battery by now anyway. Oddly my own 06 production is still on its first battery though its probably tempting fate to say that!
As you say most 07 problems have been sorted by now. Of late we have not had too many reports on them. If you are handy with excel you should be able to see when faults peaked and which ones.

Your new Q7 is a heavy car and those brakes need to be 100% otherwise your safety is compromised.
